Col Prakash Lamichhane (R&D)

An alumnus of Nepali Army Military Academy, Bhaktapur and Nepali Army War College, Nagarkot, Col Prakash Lamichhane was enrolled in Nepali Army in March 1994 and commissioned into an Air Defence Battalion in April 1996.

Col Lamichhane successfully commanded Ram Ban Coy and Kali Dhoj Battalion. In his illustrious military career of 27 years, he hold various command and staff appointments both home and aboard. Notably, his staff appointments include as a staff officer in Directorate of Military Operation (DMO), Director General of Military Training (DGMT) and Master General of ordinance (MGO). As an instructor he was instructor at Army War College, Directing Staff at Army War College, Nagarkot and Directing Staff at Army command and Staff College, Shivapuri. He has served in various peace keeping mission in different capacities; namely Military Intelligence Officer in MONUC (DRC), Brigade CIMIC Officer in MONUSCO (DRC), Chief Operation Officer in UNIFIL and Military Public Information Officer (MPIO) in UNIFIL (Lebanon). Col Lamichhane is an alumnus of Army Command and Staff College, Shivapuri and Defence Service Command and Staff College, Sri Lanka. He holds Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from Tribhuwan University, Kathmandu. Apart from the mandatory career courses, Col Lamichhane has done Air Defence Artillery Officers Basic Course from India and Counter Insurgency and Jungle warfare (CIJW) course from India.

He was promoted to the rank of Col in October 2021 and took up his current appointment as a Senior Instructor (R&D) right here in the Army Command and Staff College since October 2021.

He is happily married with Miss Sirjana Sharma and is blessed with a son Mr Priteesh Lamichhane.
