A two week long advanced course on national security ended on 13 April 2021 with the conclusion that not only the military, but also every class and community in society was responsible as far as the national interests and security matters were concerned. The course is co-organised by ministry of defence and Nepali Army.
The course is organised with the objective of providing information on various aspects of national, regional and international security, exchanging knowledge and facilities works of coordination amongst the related bodies in the formulation of the national security strategy and defence policy and implementation of the national security policy.
Matters relating to the country's geo-politics and foreign policy, national security, Civil-Military relations, use of collective efforts for humanitarian assistance during the time of disaster were the major agendas discussed during the training.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the 6th edition of the Advanced Course on National Security, Rt Honorable Prime Minister and Minister of Defense KP Sharma Oli said support from every sector in society was necessary to implement the national security policy. He said the future of any nation depended upon its national security and development, emphasizing that prosperity could not be achieved without national security. Chief of the Army Staff Gen Purna Chandra Thapa was also present during the ceremony the guest of honor.
Twenty-Five high ranking officials from the various ministers of the Federal Government, the Tribhuvan University, all the three security bodies and media houses attended the course which is expected to be helpful in understanding various challenges to national security and its present situation and determining the security strategy.
